Yayasan Saluran Unggul Sesama (Vessel Unto Others Foundation)

Empowering students for a brighter future.

Our story begins here.

A restless lecturer from Salatiga, a teachable employee-turned-occupational therapist, an inspired Special Education major from the Philippines, a challenged Sunday school teacher to serve "where unseen", and a contemplative Indonesian diaspora who lived in the United States. Five friends, not having many in common, but together, compelled by a faith that seeks goodwill for all, and a heart particularly moved towards special children in underprivileged communities across Indonesia.

YSUS (Yayasan Saluran Unggul Sesama) was established out of this shared love and vision to see inclusive communities built, and best-practices in learning and development taught, with a special emphasis on rural Indonesia. The focus-on-rural is a response to serve where the need is greatest, as less-developed areas are where stigmatism towards people with disability continue to persist, and expertise in the field of special education remains lacking. YSUS therefore works with existing local organizations, equipping and empowering them towards becoming inclusive and resourced communities for special children to thrive in.

The mission of YSUS is simple. To be a vessel of change, towards a more inclusive Indonesia. For every person with disability, is first and foremost a person with dignity, worthy to be engaged members of society. If every person understood this, how different will our world be? A world full of difference, yet a world in unity.

Come share in our dream,

Jessica Tanoesoedibjo
Chairwoman of YSUS

Our purposes have always driven us.

Empowering the potential of inclusive individuals and communities have always been our purpose.

Our purpose is to holistically support inclusive-communities, also to shift negative perceptions about our neurodivergent and disabled friends. Most importantly, we are working hand-in-hand that our neurodivergent and disabled friends can lead productive lives. We believe they are able to deliver tangible and positive contributions to the society.

Continuously provide enablement, empowerment, and inspiration for inclusive communities in Indonesia.

We are a non-governmental organization which works toward helping our neurodivergent and disabled friends lead their lives according to their God-given talents, potentials, and to support them fulfilling their life callings.

Supporting Special Needs Children with Education

Many educational materials in local languages are often out of date. We work with school leaders and publishers to ensure that students have access to current textbooks that are age appropriate and written in their primary language.

Help and Support Through Supply Donations

YSUS has provided donations in the form of monetary payments, sensory devices, text books, stationery and other donations specific to the needs of the special needs organizations involved.

Join the Community

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students have the necessary support to do their best learning.

"Yayasan Saluran Unggul Bersama has played a key role in equipping our volunteers through training via Zoom [during the Covid period]".
